In the furniture industry, the common types of drilling tools are:
Row drill (including lengthening drill), four edge drill (also called split drill), step drill, countersink drill, countersink drill sleeve, salad drill, screw tail drill, twist drill and etc.
Let’s start with the lower row drill: the blade diameter is 2.5-16mm, which is mainly used for single row drill, multi row drill and hinge drill
Processing materials: solid wood, MDF, particleboard, multilayer board etc…
Common Problem:
1. State and causes of bit bending deformation (spiral distortion)
1) Insufficient bit strength. Generally, the processing depth is no more than 25mm, and there is no paste or edge fracture. It can be judged that the strength is not enough.
2. Cause of edge burst
1) Poor bit concentricity.
2) The connection gap between the joint and the drill base is large.
3) The selected drill bit does not match the processing material.
4) Veneer hard material is too thin.
5) No chip removal.
6) Blade passivation.
3. Poor paste and chip removal:
1) Too deep processing.
2) The glue content of the plate is too much.
3) Mismatch spiral groove design.
4) Blade passivation;
4. Large jitter:
1) Poor bit concentricity.
2) The connection gap between the joint and the drill base is large.
5. Bit fragmentation:
1) Welding problems.
2) Inconsistent core thickness and uneven stress.
3) The grinding of the cutting edge is not on the same plane and the force is uneven.
4) There are hard foreign matters during processing.
5) Edge passivation and untimely grinding.
6) The cutter head is broken due to too deep processing and no chip discharge.
