Drill bit is a tool with rotating head and cutting ability. It is generally made of carbon steel or high-speed steel, milled or rolled, and then ground after quenching and heat treatment. It is used for drilling on metal or other materials. It has a wide range of applications and can be used in drilling machines, lathes, milling machines, electric hand drills and other tool machines. Drill bits can be divided into the following types according to different types:
A. Classification by structure
1. Integral drill bit: the drill top, drill body and drill handle are made of the same material.
2. End welded drill bit: the drill top part is welded by carbide.
B. Classification by handle type
1. Straight shank bit: straight handle is adopted by drill bit, of which the diameter is below 13.0mm.
2. Taper shank drill bit: the shank of the drill bit is tapered. Generally, the taper is Morse taper.
C. Classification by use
1. Center drill bit: it is generally used to drill the center point before drilling. The front conical surface has 60 °, 75 °, 90 °, etc.
2. Twist drill bit: the most widely used bit in industrial manufacturing.
3. Super-hard bit: the front end of the drill body or all of it is made of super-hard alloy tool material, which is used for drilling processing materials.
4. Oil hole drill bit: there are two small holes in the bit body. The cutting agent reaches the cutting edge through this small hole to take away heat and chips. Generally, the working object of this drill bit rotates while the drill bit itself is stationary.
5. Deep-hole drill bit: it was firstly used for drilling barrel and stone tube, also known as barrel drill bit. The deep-hole drill bit is of straight groove type, cutting more than one quarter of the part in the round pipe to produce cutting edge for chip removal.
6. Drill reamer: the front end is the drill bit and the rear end is the reamer. The diameter of the drill bit and the diameter of the reamer are only less than the allowance for reaming. There also are drill bits mixed for screw tapping, so it is also called mixed drill bit.
7. Taper bit: taper bit can be used when machining the feed port of the die.
8. Cylindrical hole drill bit: we call it countersunk milling cutter. The part with smaller diameter at the front end of this kind of drill bit is called track rod.
9. Conical hole drill bit: it is used for drilling conical holes. Its front end angles are 90 ° and 60 °. The chamfering cutter we use is one of the conical hole drill bits.
10. Triangular drill bit: a drill bit used in electric drill. Its drill handle is made into a triangular surface so that the chuck can really fix the drill bit.
